Let’s learn how to play mini crossword and start solving puzzles in record time! As in any crossword, the best answer to fill in first is one that you’re completely sure of. That’s not necessarily the first clue you see (1 Across), since crossword authors don’t automatically make the first clue the easiest one. And in any case, no two players people have the same vocabulary and knowledge. So take a look at all 10 clues, then type one of the answers that you’re most confident about. If (as we hope) you’re sure about more than one answer, it may be more helpful for you to start with the answer that’s closest to the top of the diagram.

Once you’ve filled in that answer, take advantage of the hints that you now have for all the answers that cross it. These hints will both guide help you to think of the answers, and also give you more confidence that an answer you’ve thought of is correct. Of course, the more of the puzzle you’ve filled in, the easier it will be for you to think of the remaining answers.

Keep in mind that most of The 2 Minute Mini Crossword answers will be single uncapitalized words. Though be sure to pay attention to the “2 wds.” And “Hyph.” messages that end the answers that are two words or hyphenated.

It’s always OK to “get help” whenever you like, to finish a puzzle. That includes checking what you’ve filled in so far, or asking for a letter or word, or even doing a quick online search. Before you do that, be sure that you haven’t unintentionally typed in any incorrect letters.
